Just like with other things, test prep should begin at the begin with a value centered approach. You need to know what your overall goal is as well as what your goal for each study session is. Setting session goals allows your to focus on individual aspects of your testing and strengthen them as needed.
A goal should be specific: becoming confident and adept at a math concept such as ratios or practicing finishing a section in the allotted time. This type of goal setting also allows you to tailor the session to the amount of time you have. Do you have a 15 minute car ride? study 10 vocabulary words. Do you have 2 hours on a Sunday morning? increase your stamina by doing several sections in a row without checking answers or focus on two or three concepts that have been troublesome.
Setting specific goals that are related to mastery, not necessary score, is one of the best ways to increase your performance on test day.
Happy Studying!
